NASCAR Satellite Radio

NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, and is a business venture that sanctions and governs multiple auto racing sports events. In the United States NASCAR is the largest sanctioning body of stock car racing. Sprint Cup, Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series are the three most popular and largest racing series sanctioned by them. 1500 races are sanctioned at over 100 tracks in 39 states, as well as in Canada and Mexico. Exhibition races are presented by NASCAR in Japan and Australia. NASCAR is the most popularly viewed professional sports on television. As of October 2000 all interactive rights were acquired by the Time Warner Company, Turner Sports Interactive. Seeing the popularity of the sport, Sirius Satellite Radio in 2007, acquired the broadcasting rights for North America.

Sirius Satellite Radio has entered into a five-year agreement, that gives Sirius North American satellite radio rights to broadcast all racing and other events of NASCAR. Sirius created channel 128, which is a 24/7 NASCAR channel. Sirius is the only satellite radio service that has NASCAR. As per the agreement Sirius is the Official Satellite Radio Partner of NASCAR. Over the five-year term Sirius will pay NASCAR rights fees amounting to $107.5 million. The highest payments will be made in the final years of the term. Sirius has now got the exclusive right to sell all advertising time on its NASCAR channel, and during race broadcasts.

The Sirius NASCAR Satellite Radio channel will broadcast the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, Busch series and Craftsman Truck series. These events will be covered along with live scanner feeds. Apart from the live coverage there is a whole host of other programming on this channel. You will be taken behind the scenes for insider news and also interviews with your favourite drivers. You will get round the clock news of the events and also expert opinions from famous personalities of the racing world.

NASCAR Satellite Radio now features, The Morning Drive program by Mike Bagley, on weekdays between 7am and 11am ET. This program will now be co-hosted by the popular super sub Pete Pistone, who will give his perspective analysis. You can also reach him by phone and ask him anything about NASCAR.

The channel will take you to the victory lane, where the post-race interviews are held. The channels dedicated to NASCAR on Sirius, hold polls on the Fan's choice, and you can listen to all this, on channel 127, on the Driver2Crew show. The Fan's Choice voting opens on Tuesdays and the reports are completed and shown on the channel. Channel no. 130 is the NASCAR Officials Channel during the race and it will give you behind the scenes discussions, and you will hear all the tough decisions as they are made.
